Elizabeth is a very attractive dwarf Japanese maple with a dense bushy upright form. Elizabeth has new growth that is bright red and very vivid with the older foliage turning maroon. The color holds well into the summer even in hot climates. Elizabeth is fast growing when young, but will slow down when older staying very compact. Originated as a witch’s broom mutation, giving it that dense, bushy appearance. Prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil. Elizabeth will grow 5 feet tall x 4 feet wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
