Acer palmatum Manyo no sato is a rare and unusual maple with purple and lime green variegated leaves in the spring. Summer color is light green which becomes tangerine orange in early fall. In a few weeks the color changes to dark orange with red tints in late fall. It is a favorite for the ever-changing color. Maple enthusiasts are just beginning to discover this rare and hard to find maple. Manyo has spring leaves from light to dark purple combined with lime green variegation to create a very unique look. In Japanese the name means ‘wonderful place of nature’. The lime green expands during the summer until the entire maple is no longer a dark purple color. The summer look is a light green with pink and lime tints.
