Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Verdon' is an irregular upright, dwarf selection of Hinoki cypress with a growth habit similar to that of C. obtusa 'Nana Gracilis.' It is a naturally irregular compact pyramid of dense, clean, bright-yellow foliage with hints of orange at the terminal growth, and a softly drooping leader. Despite the golden foliage, 'Verdon' is reasonably tolerant of full sun. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 1.5 feet (50 cm) tall and 12 inches (30 cm) wide, an annual growth rate of of 2 inches (5 cm).
