The Monstera deliciosa is a favorite of many indoor plant enthusiasts because of its ease of care and its broad, bright green leaves that grow eclectic fenestrations as the plant matures. Although these “holes” originally evolved as a way to help the plant withstand the windy and rainy climates of its native Central American rainforests, they give this plant a distinctive personality, which has led to its moniker of the “Swiss Cheese Plant” by plant enthusiasts.
