Phalaenopsis, the moth orchid, is perhaps the best orchid for growing in the home, and is also a favorite with greenhouse growers. Well-grown plants can flower often, sometimes with a few flowers throughout the year, though the main season is late winter into spring. Average home temperatures and conditions are usually sufficient.
In nature, Phal. sanderiana is found on moss covered branches as a pendant growing epiphyte. It like indirect light (shade), and warm temperatures (65-85 degrees night to day). Like Phal. schilleriana it is also best grown mounted on cork or other suitable medium or in a basket due to its pendant habit. Phal. sanderiana is a Spring to late Summer bloomer with pendant sometimes branched stems holding 15-20 3-3.5" flowers. Water evenly year-round and add a liquid or water soluble fertilizer to your care regime twice a month.
