This conifer attains a height of 10’ after 15 years and ultimately can reach to 35’ with a spread of 10’. One of the most spectacular of black spruces, the blue-green needles are highlighted with bright gold on the upper surfaces of the branches. This unique layered look helps emphasize the horizontal branching habit of this otherwise upright tree. Older specimens may bear purplish cones which are 1” long. In the fall they turn brown as they mature.
