Scabwort is the perfect groundcover for those hot dry areas near hardscapes. The silvery foliage has a nubby appearance.
Morphology:
This is a very low growing (1” and less) evergreen ground cover that can spread to 12”. Yellow flowers appear in the spring and extend through the end of the summer. The flowers are relatively insignificant however.
Adaptation:
Scabwort is sold in the ornamental trade as a ground cover that can take foot traffic. It needs excellent soil drainage. It can do very well in hot dry locations near driveways and stone pavers.
